My Movies

Currently there’s only two of my movies on the interwebs, and I’m only semi-proud of one. A lot has changed since then, and I know I can do better — it’s just that I haven’t yet because, mainly, I’m lazy. Which sucks, yes, but I’m working on it.

Let’s start with the beginning. Three days after my camera arrived in the mail I filmed a short little lightsaber fight between two of my friends. This fight was convinced of, choreographed, and videotaped within half an hour. I’ve been editing it, off and on, for about a year. It almost done, though, I just need one or two more sound effects. When it is, I’ll put in on youtube.

Second movie: I wouldn’t really call this a movie. More like a… moving picture? It’s based off of a comic, is about 15 seconds long, and is one shot. Here it is: that’s no moon! (and yeah, I need to re-upload it so the size is correct. I’ll do it tomorrow. –_-)

Third: I showed this to some people from a forum I frequent and they didn’t seem to get the joke. I guess I have a weird sense of humor. Hardest thing about this is that it was just me and Jake, which meant there was no one operating the camera. Still, it turned out pretty well. Except for some sound difficulties and my glasses magically appearing on my face in the last shot. Matrix parody!

Fourth and Fifth: I did these two test movies to try out different shooting and editing techniques. They were supposed to be the start of a series, but after the second one Christmas break happened and I didn’t see Jake a lot until school started back up again. And by then, Jake had a different schedule, one that eliminated the large chunk of free time we’d used to make those movies.

Future: I’m gearing up for a real movie, one that’s semi-serious but still involves a clone of Hitler. Working title: Subject 23. Interestingly enough, I picked the number 23 of the top of my head when we (Jake, Kevin, and I) were brainstorming the movie, but then Kevin pointed out that 23 was a prime number. So I did some research on primes, and decided that they were prime fodder for an extra layer of depth in the movie. So there’ll be references to primes, Mersenne primes, and possibly other mathematical things scattered throughout the movie. It should be fun. ^_^

EDIT — January 16, 2010:
My problem is that I think too far outside the box. And that I’m lazy. Bad combination, let me tell you…
