Found one of the Harris levels — UAC Labs, on a list of the top ten most infamous Doom WADs (maps). The others may very well have been lost — the Doom Wiki links to the same page I just did, and the only reason I can think of for them not linking to any other levels is that they no longer exist. Of course, it also states that “…Ty Halderman still regularly rejects the maps from inclusion in the idgames archive” which indicates that someone must have them if they’re being submitted. Now I just gotta get me a copy of Doom…

I was just reading the Wikipedia article on the Columbine Massacre. It’s an interesting read — here’s an excerpt:
“At this point, several witnesses heard Harris and Klebold comment on how they no longer found a thrill in shooting their victims. Klebold was quoted to have said “Maybe we should start knifing people, that might be more fun.”“
It also mentioned something called the Harris Levels, which I’d never heard of before. Harris (one of the shooters) was apparently a Doom fan, and had created few maps for the game, collectively titled “The Harris Levels.” There were a lot of rumors that these levels depicted the Columbine Highschool, or parts thereof, but they are apparently untrue. I’m looking for the levels right now, and will post them here when I find them.
This reminded me of an idea I’d had a long time ago — make a game that involves shooting up a highshool. Highlights would include an in-game map editor, so you could remake your own school, as well as the ability to easily create custom characters, for both yourself and everyone you hate. Then you shoot them. I’d call the game “The real Harris Levels.”
And now that I’m learning Python, I actually think that I’ll be able to make a game like that (3D and everything) within a year.
I wonder what kind of publicity it’d get…
